Retailers certainly seem to be popular today, with a number of them among the biggest gainers on the Standard & Poor’s 500 index.
Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY) is the biggest non-Netflix climber today, up more than 4%. The company was upgraded to Buy at Oppenheimer this morning. Meanwhile, the J.C. Penney (JCP) roller coaster continues, with the stock up more than 3% at the latest after falling 2% yesterday. For all its gyrations, Penney’s stock is down 3.9% this year (and almost 25% in the past three months).
Among the other risers are Dollar General (DG), Ross Stores (ROST) and Kohl’s (KSS) — all of which are up about 3%.
